About Us

Analytical Flavor Systems is founded by a team that appreciates the hard work and quality behind what we eat and drink. Inevitably, we were led to build tools for quality control in the food & beverage industry. By utilizing sensory science, data science, and analytical chemistry, we are able to protect our clients’ products from batch variations, flaws, and contaminations.

Before starting Analytical Flavor Systems, Jason was the Founder and Executive Director of The Tea Institute at Penn State, which oversees 20+ researchers in 5 fields of study in traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Tea. Jason did his research in sensory science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence - eventually developing the Gastrograph system after 3 1/2 years of research. Jason is a professional coffee, tea, and beer taster, and when he is not trying new products, he enjoys rock climbing, ice climbing, and fencing.

He graduated from Penn State with a degree in Information Sciences & Technology.

She holds a Bachelor's in Engineering and a minor in Entrepreneurship from Washington University in St. Louis, where in her junior year she launched a salad restaurant off-campus called Green Bean. Jacob moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Political Science and History. After working his way through the DC start-up scene, he joined Gastrograph to pursue his passion for beer, flavor, and technology. When not working, he can usually be found with a backpack, wandering through whatever country he accidentally walked into this week. At home, he's probably binge-watching netflix, reading obnoxiously boring history books, or playing waaaay too much football - Flag and Fantasy.
